Introduction

This is the Round2 project, under the theme "the feeling of freedom". In this project, we need to let the player feel like they have a lot of freedom in the choice they make without any direct instruction. We also need to predict what player will do in our game. This is a huge challenge. And we made a Peking Opera Mask coloring game. In this game, the players can choose different color for each part of the mask and use brush on their hand to put makeups on the actor. Finally, the players can create their own unique Peking Opera Mask in a AR world.

Design

At first, we decided to make a game which the player put makeup on girls. However, this scope is too big for a 2-week project since makeup is much more complicated than coloring. During my research, I came up with this idea about coloring Peking Opera Mask. I come from China and I love my traditional culture. I am so happy and prond to combining the Chinese traditional culture with this game. And it is perfectly matched. So finally, We confirmed our theme.

My Contributions

  • As a programmer, I was responsible for the coloring function including grabing the brush, choosing the color and coloring the face mask. I also implement the whole flow of the game such as the beginning and endding.
  • As a designer, I came up with the Peking Opera theme and desgined the basic gameplay.
  • Invited 8 playtesters with different background and collected their feedbacks to optimize the interaction and gameplay.
